Vijayadashami 2020
Vijayadashami also
known as Dussehra, Dashehra, Dasara, Dashain. It is
mainly celebrated by Hindus. It a
religious/cultural festival. It is celebrated with the significance of the victory of Good over Evil. It is
celebrated at the end of Ram Lila or
Durga Puja.
Dussehra is witnessed for
different reasons and is celebrated in various states of India. In the southern and some northeastern part
Vijayadashami marks the end of Durga
Puja. It remembered for Goddess
Durga’s victory over demon
Mahishasura. In the northern, central and western states the festival is
known as Dussehra / Dasara. In these states, it marks the
end of Ram Lila, which is celebrates
in remembrance of God Rama’s victory
over the Ravan. It signifies the
victory of Dharma (Good) over Adharma (Evil). on this, Arujna alone destroyed more than 1 lakh
soldiers and defeated kaurav (kuru)
warriors including Bhishma, Karna, Ashwatthama etc.
Vijayadashami festivities incorporate parades to a waterway or
sea front that include conveying clay statues of Goddess Durga, Goddess
Lakshmi, Goddess Saraswati, God Ganesha and God Kartikeya, joined by music. After which the clay statues are
immersed in the water for farewell. In some part of country on Dasara, transcending representations of
Ravan, symbolizing abhorrent, are ignited
with firecrackers, denoting underhandedness' devastation. The celebration
additionally begins the arrangements for Diwali,
the significant celebration of lights, which is commended twenty days after Vijayadashami.
Ramayana-
Main
starting of Ramayana is done when
Ravana kidnapped Sita. Rama mentioned Ravana to release Sita,
yet Ravana cannot; the circumstance raised and prompted the war. In the wake of
performing serious compensation for ten thousand years, Ravana got an aid from the maker God Brahma: he could consequently not be slaughtered by gods / divine

Evil.
Mahabharata-
The Mahabharata is an ancient Indian epic. The
story revolves around two branches of a family – 1st is the Pandavas and 2nd is Kauravas – the deadly fight between these two is known as
the Kurukshetra War
which is a battle for the throne of Hastinapura. Including
within it the Bhagavad Gita, the Mahabharata is one of the most
important texts of ancient Indian. In this battle
of Mahabharata Arujna (Pandav)
proved that he was the best warrior in the world. Arujna alone defeated the
entire Kaurav (kuru) army of 1 lakh
soldiers, Bhishma, Karna, Ashwattama and many more. Arujna means also vijaya,
ever victorious. The incident took place
on the same day in which lord Rama killed Ravan. It was also Arujna’s day so
also popular as “Vijaya Dashami”.
How celebrations take place in
various regions
Himachal Pradesh-
The most
famous Dussehra in north India is celebrated in Kullu valley of Himachal Pradesh. It is notable as there is large
fair and parade which witnessed by million people. Fest is a symbol of victory
of good over evil by Shree Ram. It is celebrated with a great procession. The
special features of the Kullu Dussehra
is – Arrival of floats containing
divinities from different parts of the nearby regions.
Southern India-
In
southern part of India Dussehra is celebrated with worshiping Goddess Durga, lightening in the temples. It was also
known as Mahanavami. Celebration
hosted various competitions such as singing and dancing, fireworks and parades. Major center of Vijayadashami celebration held Mysore. This festival also
celebrates the worship of Goddess Saraswati,
the Hindu Goddess of knowledge, music and art.
Western India-
In
western part (such as Gujrat) of India this festival signifies the victory of
Lord Rama, Goddess Durga over evil powers. This region celebrates this festival
with Dandiya Raas and Garba, in which they dance with their
traditional dresses. In Maharashtra, they immersed their deities in water on
this day. They also exchange sweets between their family and friends. In Goa, Dussehra is known as Dasro, which
marks victory of Goddess Durga’s over demon Mahishasura.
Eastern India-
Bhojya Dashmi is
replaces name of Dussehra in the eastern India. People will worship Goddess
Durga and immersed Goddess statues in the water which marked as goodbye. They
also exchange gifts, sweets between their loved ones.
Nepal-
Dussehra
is known as Dashain in Nepal.
Relatives come to their native homes. Elder make a mark (known as tika) on
forehead of youngster. They worship Goddess Lakshmi on this day and give best
wishes to loved ones.
